welcome to the DARK(room) side.

went to the darkroom yesterday to develop my rolls of film! ok this is really my first time. i had 2 rolls of 120mm B&W, and 2 rolls of 35mm coloured. BUT. there wasn't the B&W developer i wanted so i have to make do with whatever developer there is. and there wasn't E6 developer there, and i wanted to do cross-processing of E6 on my C1 film. so i ditched the colour processing. i think i will buy my own chemicals, stock up on my colour films and develop all at a go to save cost and time.

anyway, the development results were not bad, just not as what i desired. i'm not sure if it's my camera, the film (since i bought some cheapos one from china), or the way i developed them. quite saddening to see the results like this, but i'm satisfied to at least see images on the film! the wonders of analogue photography! i'll find some time to scan the films soon. oh and i printed some of the photos. kinda testing it. ok this kind of print is not what u think it is. it's the REAL form of conventional photo printing. to emphasize it, we called it 洗照片, literally. i have to find the photo i want to print, then do a test strip for different exposure to find the best exposure i want. then expose the film on the photographic paper under light for the desired time. then put it into the paper developer, then stopper and fix for a specific amount of time. then take it out, wash it for some time then hang it to dry. :) awesome process. just take a little patience. but something that i dont really know is how to get the contrast of the photos i wanted. the contrast wasn't that strong as i desired. but, i think it's a good start!

i want my own darkroom soon! but meanwhile, i have to learn more about analogue photography! :))

P.S. Analogue photography is a continuous-time signal, while digital photography is a discrete-time signal. :)
