weird weird. when i was in london, i craved so much for local food like prata, orh jian. etc etc etc
but when i return to this land of our dreams, i lost all this craving some how. conclusion: the weather. when i was in london, when it was cold and gloomy, people tend to crave for HOT and SPICY food. but when im back in sunny singapore, the weather, so HOT and HUMID, i just dont feel like eating those food. -.- how ironic. life's complicated, and one can never ever be satisfied.
these few days have been really weird. the sudden lost of freedom. the interaction with people is a little awkward. and things aren't as cheap as i thought i would be. there's so many things that i want. camera, watch, headphones etc etc. but i realised im really low on cash now. real low. chain hang low.
monday reporting back to camp, and i hope tuesday is day off cos it's SAF day. driving test in less that 2 months time. oh yea, today's driving lesson was good. after not driving for a year, it was kinda hard to start. the anticipation and fear before the lesson. but i think im catching it quite well.
speaking of driving, this really irritates me ALOT. and i mean really. now the system has changed. no longer being able to book the lessons online. cos of the true blue singaporeans. can't you believe it? the August lessons are opening in 2 hours time, and the procedure is to go down to the centre and queue and book for your august lessons. yes, august. and now is still june. all july lessons are fully booked. and im just keeping my finger cross that i will have sufficient practices before the test date itself, despite my really packed and hectic schedule that i can foresee in the next 3 months. camp, polo, driving and sail. yah, my life will be revolving around these few things for the next 3 months. so what happens to climbing, chilling, and meeting ppl and of course family gatherings? i shall play by ear. time, please slow down from this moment onwards. please.

mambo dumbo.
it was a long night. a very long one. but the time we stayed outside the club was much longer than the time we had inside. i didn't really enjoyed myself. truthfully. but thanks to all who came who made me feel back home again. the only song i remembers that night was summer rain and a little of mama mia. how sad that i really didn't had much fun. such a pity. this is probably gonna be my only mambo for the next 3 months. the next time might be when im clearing leave end of september. then we shall see.
back to reality and time to train up. and brace up. learn learn learn.

home home.
yes, i'm finally back home. but however, i didnt feel as excited as what i was expecting. not very. kinda anti climax huh. dunno why, but i just couldn't show any form of excitement at all.
the flight back was horrendous. imagine 13 hours flight WITHOUT in-flight entertainment. bloody BA, who decide to fail their entertainment system on me on this long flight. but luckily i got quite a good companion with me throughout the flight. just got to know her, indo-chinese from warwick. nothing much. lol. but i must say this flight back is a blessing in disguise. i only have 1 X 23 kg baggage allowance, so i had to carry my haversack and my laptop bag. but when i checked in my luggage, it was 33 kg. -.- so i have to remove my blazers which made it 30kg later. they allowed me to check that in after all. so when i wanted to go into the departure hall for last minute shopping, i was stopped by some assistants, cos they said my bag was TOO big. then i have to check that in too. so i decided to look so someone that may look friendly at the counters. so i saw this young pretty indian lady. think that she's 'asian' she might be helpful. she told me it will be £75 per piece of extra luggage checked in. at that point, i almost wanted to just pay for that £75 and save all the trouble. but then she added, :"this time i check it in for you, next time you have to pay". :) yes. so basically i managed to check in two pieces of luggages! :)
ok im turning in soon. tmrw gonna be a LONG day.

TEAM.
yes just came back from liverpool. it was a good competition i must say. we came in 6th overall, though i thought we could have made it to the semi finals if not for some ass. i almost tear my biceps this weekend. almost. not there yet.
when i was watching one of a match, a boy shouted to his team mate: ' the most mistakes you make, we gotta work harder!' and that was really harsh. but it's true. really true.
i was watching this kids playing, yes kids, around 14 - 18 years old, playing REALLY well. in a few years time, i can imagine them being SO STRONG. yes. very. now i know why GB national team is so strong.
and watching these people really inspire me to be as strong as them, but will i EVER reach their level? i've decided to run for captaincy for the men's team next year. but i gotta prove myself, be more vocal, and stronger. this summer, is my only chance to really learn, grow and become stronger. it will be hell tough i know, but i have to do it if i want it. i have to.
P.S. nineteen hours to leaving london!! and thirty one hours to HOME home! :)

rush hour.
finally finish packing everything, not everything everything, but everything that im gonna out in storage for summer! i cant believe i have SO many stuff. =/. i think tmr will be hell for me to move all these. i think i will succumbed to take the expensive london cab. cos im given like ard 30 mins to move all my stuff? bah. and i gonna collect a loft bed from a senior tmr. and guess what, i list checked ikea, and that loft bed weight 56.8kg in total. =/ crap. tmr another weight training day. but lucky the bed is already dismantled, but it's still damn heavy. but it's a blessing in disguise! cos the senior doesnt want his desk and his old guitar too! :)) means i save more money!! i think im only gonna just get a shelf and a drawer and a coat stand next year!! :)))
going to liverpool tmr evening for competition. i heard the weather is quite cold there. i hope it wont that cold as doncaster, if not i'll just freeze. did i mentioned that i got all the presents?! haha. except for tw's cos i cant find his size for the jersey. haha. tw no worries i will go another shop to find tmr. if still dont have, then it's fated. HAHAHA.
ok good night ppl. gonna wake up early tmrw to MOVE!!! =/

foodie.
yes had a great dinner today! hainanese chicken rice, singapore laksa, beef tikka masala with chapati, and spinach with mushroom soup! it was a feast cooked all by myself!! but i overcooked, so all my friends were really bloated, and had quite some leftovers. :(. but even though we were damn bloated, we managed to finish that tub of Ben and Jerry's vanilla toffee crunch. :)
good dinner. too bad i didnt take any photos, cos i was too busy cooking and we were too busy eating. LOL.

busy (celebrating) week.
okay. it's been quite long since i last update my life. this is gonna be a long entry, so hold your breath and read on. :)
let's see, wed, after the paper, the EE gang, we went to waterloo to have a good lunch at an irish pub. it was really good. i had a £9 mix grill and a pint of hoegarden. :) but i didn't finish my food cos i was rushing off to catch my train. :( so they had my share.
oh, did i tell u guys that i went to exeter again? ok basically i was catching a train to exeter to visit a senior and then to dartmouth to see a junior passing out. oh yeah dartmouth. :) this is a lovely place. one of the place that i want to retire next time. the britannia royal naval college is at dartmouth, so u can figure out why i go there for.
so hj, exeter is really a nice place. one of the safest town in uk.
EEE ppl.
dartmouth. :)
Britannia Royal Naval College. :)
PO Dash. LOL.
then i came back to london on thursday evening. then after that we went for Lord of the Rings musical. and it was really good. the singing wasn't that great, but the staging and effects were just so fantastic.:) after that we wanted to go for a movie but all the cinemas were closed. so that was thursday.
friday was nothing much. cos it was friday the 13th. LOL. and i went for my long awaited polo training. which didn't turn out good for me. cos i got a damn lousy spray deck, so basically my boat was flooded most of the time and i couldn't move at all. so i feel really bad cos i seem not to really contribute much cos i was slow and SLOW.
saturday, went to borough market in the morning to have a good brunch there. really nice! then after that we went to greenwich to see THE greenwich meridian LINE. yes. and i love that place. cos it's nice. and we took some jump shots. i must thank all those guys who agreed to do silly jump shots with me. it was my childhood dream. haha. those shots were awesome. u must be thinking what's so interesting. well, it's those scene when u always see in street fighters. when the 2 opponents will hover and fight. if u've seen my paris photos, u'll understand. :) but because of that i sprained my right wrist. =/. but i was cool. i'll wait for my fren to finish editing the photos then i'll show u. :))
borough market. :)
now today. i decided to just sleep in instead of going to the gym =/ cos i was really tired. the past few days didn't really sleep much and was really tiring. so i deserve a break. but when i woke up, my wrist hurts like mad. and at that moment, i realised i have training today, and a competition this coming weekend. so this wrist thing was really annoying me today. i went for training, and the first stroke i put it, i was screaming in pain, not literally, but yah. so i have to endure the pain for that 90 minutes. and i wasn't really doing well at all. i hope my wrist will recover by wed. gym tmrw.
okay really a very summarised entry for my past few days. come to think of it, im gonna leaving london in a week and this feels really weird. i havent start packing my stuff, doing last minute shoppings and saying goodbye to my friends here. oh well, but i cant wait to go back!! 25th 25th!! :))
P.S. kw and jac, dont forget my stuff. =P

breaking freeeeeeee.
yes i know repeated entry. but freedom is so so near! just one more paper. this paper gonna be really tough. i have no idea how am i gonna learn all these stuff within 1 day. somehow i will do it. today's paper was better than expected.
no much description needed. i can just smell holiday, mambo and HOME! and of course the sun, sand and sea! (sunburn, sandflies and sea sick).
almost there.
yes. i really cant wait for wednesday. even though now, at 1.24am. i can tell you that i am less than half prepared for my tomorrow's paper, or rather today's. and im zero percent prepared for wed's. but i really don't care anymore. i just want to pass it. this is really damn tiring. from the first paper. 28 april. to the main papers started 19 may till the last paper 11 june. NON-STOP mugging. this is really very exhausting for the mind. it's like running a marathon, the last few KMs are the WORST. im sure those guys who ran standard charted will agree, even if i didnt run it.
if only my brain can work like a MOSFET at saturation. MOSFET = Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor. which means. it is active when saturation. unlike a BJT (Bi-polar Junction Transistor), which active ≠ saturation. so in a MOSFET, when not saturation, it is in the Triode state. wth man. this is disgusting. bah. okay. im gonna turn in now. wish me good luck for my last 2 papers. this time, i REALLY NEED ALOT OF LUCK. =/

so near, yet so far.
it's gonna be over in four days, last four days in the library. somehow i dont feel like studying at all. at the back of my brain, im panicking like some idiot, i still need to finish learning 2 courses in the next 2 days? yet i havent finish the first one, not even half of it.
must be the post birthday mood. even though i didnt really had lots of fun, actually nothing fun at all. but i think im kinda used to it. for the past 10 years (at least i think). birthdays are always camps/exams/holidays/duties. i still remember j1, it was during OAC june camp, what more can i describe. j2 was during OAC june camp too, but this time i was the instructor. then i was under lots of pressure. next was confined in camp. last year was duty/sailing. this year exam. next year too. so actually birthday is no longer a big deal to me eh? (don't worry im not emo-ing)
exams ending soon, yet i feel as though it is still so far away. home is so near, yet so far.
i don't like this feeling at all. what is this feeling? (please click here)
btw i just watch p.s. i love you. bitter sweet romance.
P.S. Guess what.

(i don't know what to write as)
okay. mixed feelings. abit happy but abit sian.
maths was okay. i know i wont fail in total. B should be barely okay. somewhere there.
had a mini birthday celebration with the EE peeps at a japanese restaurant here. tell u, it's GOOD STUFF. REAL japanese food. not like the pseudo-japanese-wannabe-chinese Little Japan. LOL. then i had my two magnum after that. really good. then after that it's all the exciting things. yay
i made TWO new friends today. 'ms notes' and 'ms past-years-papers'. we were have a damn good time partying-like-a-rockstar at club library!

reformatted.
somehow, my brain was being reformatted sometime ago. now, i COMPLETELY can't remember anything that i've learn since sec 1 till j2. what i've been doing for 6 years. math. even SIMPLE things like DIFFERENTIATION, INTEGRATION and trivial things like find the perpendicular distance between 2 planar vectors! how can this be! i have no idea how did i survive maths olympiad for 6 years and now still cant do simple maths. WHY?!
tell me why, ain't nothing but a headache (heartache)..
tell me why, ain't nothing but all mistakes (a mistake)..
tell me why, i never want to end this way ..
i want it back that way.
findings
just had my first paper. i would say it's ok. if i have known how to do second order differential equations and planar vectors, i think i could have gotten around 80+ 90%? for this paper? but i just don't know. so i optimistically predict this paper to be about ~60%? this is only the first. tmrw's gonna be harder. i just need to get 3 questions right, which make up to about ~35%, to pass rightfully. (somehow i shouldn't be looking to just pass right? but this is for me for now. next year. i will aim to score full marks like usual. =/)
i was really stressed and burnt out last night. i just couldn't do anymore math problems anymore. total exhaustion.
while thinking and staring into spaces yesterday, and discriminating about mathematicians, i had some conclusion about mathematicians:
i wonder what the math lecturers in imperial do other than teaching?
u see, scientist and engineers are always busy with researches, findings and engineering new things. so how about mathematicians?!
they read mathematical theories, and read theories. then they try to come up with their own theories. if fail, they continue to read and study theories. they'll then read others' theories and try to prove them wrong (cos maybe they don't understand them). when they still fail to do so, they read and study theories again. meanwhile in their free time, they play with calculators, fix all the spoilt calculators, check all the calculators in all department are working well for exams, and to check with suppliers with cheaper calculators. oops. =X i wonder if some idiot one day will realise that actually ∫ is not the symbol for integration and ∑ not the symbol for summation. =/
i still remember i used to always do nothing, relax and sleep early the day/night before any math paper so i will have a 'refresh' mind the next day. i wish this day will come again.

the in-betweens.
this entry is dedicated to those who are studying damn hard and almost in the library everyday at this point of time. even though i think it's only kw, hj and me. (and of course the other imperial-ians? that are mugging hard).
now. while u are studying hard. stop whatever you're doing now for like 10 - 15 mins. take a break from academic stuff. stand up. look around. loosen your joints. have a good stretch on ur back, arms, neck legs and body. take a deep breath. take another deep breath. take one last deep breath, this time slowly exhale, look towards somewhere far. are you ready and recharged? not yet.
watch these 2 videos during this short 10 - 15 mins.
hope this brighten up your day, and now back to study and all the best! :)
P.S. i still prefer the first one. :))

propriety.
finally a good day. even though the paper did not turn out as well, i had a good day. a day that finally i have THREE PROPER MEALS. believe it or not, it's been quite sometime since i last have THREE proper meals, bout 2 weeks plus? from breakfast of honey nut crunch cereal with cranvendale full cream milk, to beit's turkey escalope with chips and salad lunch to the late dinner of salmon teriyaki udon with soup from little japan. yes. total satisfaction. :)
realised i negate about any studies today. cos i just cannot do math anymore. at the verge of giving up. math math math, please enlighten me. c'mon Newton, Gregory, Raphson, Fourier and all your other friends. i'll meet u in my dreams to teach me a good lesson. see you all there.
brain dead.
Fourier, Laplace, Leibnitz, l'Hopital, Complex numbers, vectors, ODE, first order, second order, series, convergence test, partial differention, matrices , blah blah blah.
∑∫maths≠ easy ≈ miracle if pass.
today's paper was really brain-juice-consuming. right after the paper: brain dead. total brain dead. same mistake as previous paper again. having a great problem to choose which question to do. end up switching between questions, end up doing the qn that i chose earlier. didnt have time to finish the qn in the end (1 qn 30% : 3 X 10% parts). mainly because that part need alot of analysis and very time consuming, also of concentration needed. at that point in time, i was already panicking cos i'm left with ~ 3 minutes. was really switching between questions the last 15 mins. really dumb. zzz.
finally 5 down 0100, i mean 4 more to go. this is gonna be hell. mathssssssssssss.
ASCII
digital electronics isn't as easy as i thought it was. the lecturer put it as though it's so easy. but in fact. it's one that really takes up all your concentration to solve and understand. right. RS flip-flip, JK flip-flop, D flip-flops and finite state machine. zzzzz
i think im so screwed for tmrw. and the next four other papers.

lighthouse of OCS.
have u guys heard about the legend in OCS? in OCS there is this wing (something like company) called the MIDS wing which is the navy wing. they have a legendary name: lighthouse of OCS. because they dont have lights-out like other wings and what they do in the middle of the night? studying. yes. the legend of the lighthouse of OCS. it's a tradition.
and somehow, now, im upholding this tradition in imperial college. i stayed in the library last night or rather this morning till 5am. i walked home when it was bright and shine. i slept at 6am plus, almost 7. yay. im turning nocturnal. Zzzz
