all worth it.

finally, the weekend was over. a very fruitful weekend. all i have been training for the past month just for this most important tournament of the year.

it was really a emotional weekend for my team. losing the first match was really disheartening. and not playing well for the next two matches made us feel worse. but we won and drew that two. the next match was very important, we have to win that to get into the quarter finals, top 8. we won that, with great team dynamics and coordination. finally our team play was back after 3 matches. that was how we're going to play the remaining matches. that was end of day 1. all our four teams entered the quarter finals.

day two morning. first match determined the semi finals. we won that, with me scoring the only 2 goals which made us win 2-1. really felt good after not scoring at all the first day. and that did make us top 4. :) but that was really a good match. we were 1-0 after the first half. and during the break, our coach really made us played very well. all he said was: " guys, relax. don't be anxious, play your own game. It's just another polo match". THAT really gave us our team spirit back. then we won them after a hard fight. at that point, all our four teams made it to the semi finals. OMG!

this was really the furthest we've gone as a team. top 4. the next 2 matches will be the toughest of all. semi finals: met our long hated opponents from nottingham. well known bad asses who came in 2nd last year and first the year before. we had a had fight. they were too fast for us. too strong. and we lost 4-1. that was the most painful game ever. that game we were really playing our best. and at the match, i really felt really tired, for the first time. that was when we know our fitness could not catch up with them.

then came the 3rd/4th placing match. that team we were against was a strong team. they took shots from almost half way line and scored. way faster than the team before. 3-1 to them. then the final whistle was blown. we were all tired out. totally. and that summed up our position for this year. 4th, out of the 30 university teams. we were ranked 4th in the world UK.

the last 2 matches were really emotional. losing the semis then the 3rd placing. but we know we couldn't match up with the teams at all. but we will be stronger next year.

now back to london. so back to mugging for my 11 papers. =/
